Animal Friends Blog
We are delighted to announce that we have reached our next charity milestone: £2.5 million donated to worldwide animal charities!
From the day Animal Friends was created, animal welfare has been our primary concern. Whether it’s by covering the cost of vital veterinary care with one of our award-winning policies, or by helping charities of all sizes. We share our profits with the organisations that need it most, from huge international charities like Born Free and SPANA to smaller UK shelters and sanctuaries.
Over the last six months we’ve really enjoyed personally visiting some of these charities to present surprise cheques, take tours of the premises and meet some of the animals who will benefit from the donations. We’ve even brought along celebrity guests Michelle Collins, Peter Egan and Gemma Atkinson.
We love helping charities, but we can’t do it without our policyholders, so we’d like to offer a HUGE thank you to every one of you, and your pets. It’s your custom that allows us to make these donations, and your support that charities need and value so much.
As well as giving away special Christmas cheques, we’ve also proudly donated through our Employee of the Month Scheme. One recipient has been St Francis’ who were chosen by Animal Friends employee, Dayna.
All year around we look out for special projects and when disasters strike we do our best to lend a hand.
We collect donations internally with our “Dress-Down Friday” initiative, whereby our staff can dress casually on Fridays when they donate 50p. Between our 150 employees, this raises a few thousand pounds a year, and staff can vote for their favourite charities to receive a share of this money.
And, finally, our Vote for a Charity competitions have been running for a few years now, and they give you the chance to decide which charities should receive the largest amount of that month’s donation. The winner of our current competition will be announced tomorrow so stay tuned!
A huge thank you to all of our policyholders!
